At Literacy Lighthouse Academy, we believe exceptional literacy instruction begins by understanding exactly where each child is and providing the intentional instruction needed to help them grow.
Our program is aligned with the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards for English Language Arts and incorporates a thoughtful blend of classic and modern literature, evidence-based literacy instruction, meaningful writing experiences, and individualized grammar instruction.
Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all curriculum, we tailor instruction to the individual needs of our students. Through small-group learning, teacher observation, ongoing progress monitoring, and Step Up-approved standardized assessments, we identify each student’s current skill level, celebrate their strengths, and pinpoint the specific areas where additional instruction and practice will make the greatest impact.

Students experience a carefully selected collection of classic and modern literature designed to spark curiosity, encourage meaningful discussion, strengthen comprehension, and expose learners to rich vocabulary and beautiful language.
Literature becomes the foundation for deeper learning as students read, discuss, analyze, write, create, and make meaningful connections across texts and the world around them.
Assessment With Purpose
Assessment at Literacy Lighthouse is not simply about producing a score—it helps us understand the learner behind the number.
We utilize Step Up-approved standardized assessments, along with ongoing progress monitoring and teacher observation, to gauge each student’s individual academic level and measure growth over time.
These results help guide instructional decisions so that we can continually adjust and strengthen each student’s learning experience.
